Samuel Berlach

Bellachini

(1827-1885)

Berlach was the most famous and popular magician of the 19th century.

Contrary to his reputation that he "only" performed apparatuses, there is evidence to the contrary. One of his posters explicitly announces feats without apprates.

His life story has been rewritten by Prof. Dr. Natascha Würzbach.

Lucas Strack

Bellachini

(1861-1930)

Lucas Strack also became very famous as Bellachini. He received numerous awards from crowned heads.

He made a large fortune and later settled in Marburg.

Today there is a commemorative plaque on the house where he lived.

His vita was recorded by Karl-Heinz Gimbel from Marburg.

Franz Schweizer

Bellachini

(1886-1969)

Franz Schweizer was initially an assistant to Lucas Strack and was allowed to continue using the name Bellachini after Strack's retirement from the stage. During the Nazi era, he temporarily called himself "Garvin" and also became very well known under this name.

In his hometown of St. Martin, a fountain was later named in his honour, which still exists today.

Theodor von Schledorn

Bellachini

(1896-1975)

Theodor von Schledorn was probably the last "great" Bellachini.

One of his highlights was his appearance before Kaiser Wilhelm II, who subsequently gave him a pin with the imperial crown and the imperial "W" with diamonds.

Once very wealthy with several houses in Düsseldorf, he died almost impoverished in his log cabin in Attendorn.
